Bigger Than Seattle are an alt.rock band from Stourbridge whose name I've heard in conversation several times, but still haven't gotten around to seeing. They've got a free 7 track demo album/ep up for free download on their SoundCloud page, but I've just put up 'Jellybean' here as it's the stand out track for me. Clearly influenced by Jeff Buckley but respectfully done, with a nice clean guitar motif underpinning the whole piece. The whole set has been uploaded as .wav files so expect some relatively big files but just run them through an mp3 convertor and edit the iD3 tags in WinAmp and you're all good.

Tiny Dragons are a three piece from Brighton. A bit indie rock, a bit disco pop. Have a listen, give it a download, throw a party, get horribly drunk, put it on and pretend you're in an episode of Skins; somewhere in the second season. __The Arcadian Kicks are a Birmingham-based group who have been active for the last few years, making a name for themselves by hosting their own club nights in the city and touring extensively across the country. The band have been working and recording with Mike Chapman, legendary producer of Blondie’s classic albums. This partnership has resulted in two creative, extremely weird and enjoyable studio sessions, and has produced music that’s seen the band take a dramatic step forward from their indie/rock roots into a new, unique sonic realm of rhythm and harmony, delivered with a powerful audacity that is sure to make it hard for music fans everywhere to ignore. Note: This download is in a .wav format and is 35MB. Not a problem though, you just a free sound converter like Switch, download the song, open your converter, go into the settings and set it to your desired bitrate, drag it on there, click convert and you're good to go. Plus you've now got a sound file converter, they come in pretty handy._ __Put Paloma Faith, Graham Coxon and Bill Ryder-Jones together in a studio and what do you get? Desire. This track was created by this awesome trio as the next in line of exclusive music collaborations, none of which I've actually heard. In the video Paloma, Graham, Bill and an octopus take you for a ride through the crazy world of Desire. The video is great and as far as I'm concerned, Paloma can do no wrong. I've popped the video here to save you having to click around trying to find it, it's right here, and it's pretty awesome. _I was sat here thinking about what to write about Ria, looking through various pictures I've taken of her and looking at her bio on ReverbNation and then I read something which made me laugh. My name is Ria. I'm a solo artist. I write quirky (apparently) indie, pop rock songs inspired by my life experiences, which i polish up with a bit of imaginative flair. I play electric guitar through a massive amplifier designed for big men who shred and sweat. She's playing at The Brewery Tap in Worcester on Thursday 19th April with Sick Boys Club, Johnny Kowalski and the Sexy Weirdos and The Rusty Knives. She hardly plays in Worcester, so don't miss out. She Keeps Bees are a fantastic alt. rock from Brooklyn, New York. I've only been to one of their gigs but it was fantastic. I hung out with Andy and Jess and they were lovely people. they even gave me a copy of their album 'Nests'. When I came back from New York, that and Ellis Ashbrook was all I listened to for ages. This is a picture I took of Jess at The Glasslands Gallery in Brooklyn, New York back in 2008. Look at it man. Mental. Here's a mixtape they put together, I have no idea on the tracklisting but it's a feel good mix, nice to put on while you're having a chill in the back garden. |
Making your music folder better, one song at a time.
_Pretty much everyday I seem to find some amazing exclusive tracks that
some awesome artists are giving away for free as a special one off
promotion. Today, it occured to me that instead of just downloading
them, maybe reposting them on facebook if they're special enough/someone I know and
then moving on, I should start a little music blog on here. Even if it
doesn't last forever, it's still a free song for you each day that it
does! I'd say the character of this blog is mostly electropop and singer/songwriter but I've got plans for mathcore, post-rock and glitch-hop. A lot of these tracks have a download limit of 100 so get in there on the quick. I'd also point out that a lot of the songs will need renaming once you've downloaded them so I'd do them one at a time. Archives
